The only experience I have with EMS is that their bridge to the libera.chat IRC network doesn't work. Specifically, the libera.chat homeserver that they host sends like 10% of the events that it should be sending to my (self-hosted) homeserver. I know it's not a problem with my homeserver because multiple other (non-EMS-hosted) homeservers work with mine just fine.

And there's no way to get help about it; none of the folk who run it are active in the #libera-matrix channel, and the libera.chat folks themselves don't have any knowledge of it because it's entirely maintained by EMS.

People who use matrix.org as their homeserver reported no problems with it when I asked, but at least one other person using their own homeserver said it was broken in the same way for them too.

"Infinitely better experience" my ass.


What's wrong with this? How is it opposed to federation?
