Yeah , that is spot on.

Did you get the sarcasm in your parent post? If you really believe that your indentured servitude in the "land of the free" is better than living a free life back home, you have no reason to complain.

From what I know, going back to India is not bad at all. A lot of Indians return to bigger and better prospects back home.

It's self-evident that the world as a whole would be better served if people who go to the United States, the EU, Japan, or anywhere else with top notch institutions and learn valuable skills were to go take those skills and apply them in places where they aren't generally available. As a bonus it will be extremely lucrative for those persons, since they will have highly marketable skills that aren't widely available in their locale.

If you see tens of millions of people doing something you think is stupid you might want to reconsider who the stupid one is.

For all that India, China and other developing countries are getting better they’re nothing like the US, South Korea or Western Europe[1]. And all those people who invested in skills who leave were motivated by the possibility of leaving. People study things that will let them leave. Some of them do, some don’t. The Philippines has huge numbers of qualified and experienced nurses not despite the prospect of migration but because of it[2]. If you think working in developing countries could be highly lucrative I encourage you to try it. The people who know more about those countries than you are not particularly inclined to do so or we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

[1] Personal experience. Neither of Shanghai or Mumbai is near being Western Europe but Shanghai is at worst at Poland’s level.

Rude. I never called anyone stupid, but you did.

Golden handcuffs.

I too have moved to the US, but let's be honest. The US is not the only place in the world where you can live. There are a bazillion countries where you could have a good life, do interesting work and that would treat you better.
