I wonder if it would be possible for researchers and scientists to submit their papers to an organization which would then collect them, submit them for peer review by other experts in the field, and then release them in periodical form ONLY to individuals and organizations who pay a subscription fee in order to read them while suing those who try to redistribute them without permission?
Why would society fund mathematicians if they decided to become a guild that hides secrets? They could pursue that as a hobby, but they’d end up like the coders who refuse to use LLMs - rapidly becoming irrelevant and a bit sad from an outsider’s perspective.
Ah but heres the thing , society/gov expects mathematicians to be productive and tries to measure that by awards/publications/citations gained. Within a guild ope or secret they could possibly use a local LLM (even if slow) to accelerate their collective output.While ensuring their credit/publication/citations remain intact rather than with the AI labs taking a lions share of that.

Seems if any assignments are to be handed out they should be structured in such a way that takes into account the potential of LLM use. Additionally to make the output (hardcopy? handwritten?oral presentation?) in such a way that even if LLms are used at the very least some part will be forcibly undertaken by the students in preparation of finals/real life.
Open book exams existed for a long time and even take home assignments where the net was usable to complete the tasks.
Difference was one actually had to do the reseach and learn something along the way regarding research skills or the topic itself.
LLms just make the automation and laziness with a lower barrier to polished output.

ACtually no , even with the export of primary goods that go into the manufactue of renewables like solar the price differential still favours China. A recent example is the boom of local solar manufacture in India whil relies on solar modules imported from china.The assembled panes are still 2X the price of a similar fullly aseembled one from China.
And not due too subsidies of labour - a lot of the value chain is highly automated and densely colocated diffrerent from other industrail setups where complimentary industries are geographically separeted which increase final costt by adding unreliable transport and delays into the mix.
So at scale and with high volume will continue to be the dominated by China , wear and tear even with renewables will continue to favour the first mover as tech evolves over time.The solar modules/batteries of 10-15 years ago are not the same effficency as those of today.
China indeed makes very cheap solar panels, inverters and batteries, but that just means that they take up a smaller share of the cost of a complete installation, which also includes labor and additional hardware for the mounting system. So solar panels doubling in price won't double the cost of new solar capacity, let alone the cost of electricity from existing installations. That reduces the political leverage a lot compared to oil, where a supply disruption affects prices on fairly short time scales.

Im sure theirs still market dominance to be had. But it wont be at the level that the US has with oil. This isnt just market dominance, its complete economic dominance. The US can controll all money because oil is sold in dollars. That wont be true for solar panels, simply because a country couldnt afford to go a week without oil imports, but a country could go years without solar panel imports, given how existing panels will still work and new panels can be manufactored domestically if needed (even if they are expensive). You cant jist manufactor oil, you meed to buy it

The more concerning issue as far as Australian based tech is The Assistance and Access Act 2018 which

Fastmail was always subject to the Telecommunications Act, which allows Australian police access with warrants, and Fastmail has always made it clear that it complies with legal warrants.
The article you're quoting [1] concerns itself with the creation of systemic "encryption-breaking" capabilities and exploits which said law bends over backwards to expressly prohibit [2].
